Alex S. Yu: Made with Dream and Love

Posted on March 21, 2022

By Rose de Paulsen,

Alex S. Yu may not have been in the fashion game for long, but he has already made waves with his collections at Vancouver fashion week. Originally, Alex Yu was set to study computer sciences at Simon Frasier University. But, when fashion calls you pick up the phone, he then found himself studying fashion at the Blanche Macdonald Centre. After graduating in 2011 he started his next endeavor at the prestigious London College of Fashion. He was well prepared for what the college had to throw at him, and by 2014 he had made his label Alex S. Yu. His brand marries street wear with a lively and colourful avant-garde flair. You will not be able to miss the oversized skirts and flounces coming off hems. His garments have playful femininity that compliment his surreal street wear. His colour palette varies but always expect to see high contrasts mingling with patterns. His collections have been seen in Vogue in both British and Italian prints, and of course ELLE Canada. Alex S. Yu has since started teaching courses at Blanche Macdonald.
